Making Your Offerings Go Further
As a member of Knockbreda Methodist Church you will know how hard we work to ensure that every penny you give us goes as far as it can to meet Church expenses. Through Gift Aid, you can help us make your offerings go even further and it won’t cost you anything!
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows churches to reclaim an extra 25% on your offerings. This is only limited to the amount of income tax or capital gains tax you have paid in the tax year.
How does it work?
As long as you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid enables us to boost the value of your offerings by 25p for every £1 you give to us. So, for example, for every £10 you give to Knockbreda, we are able to claim an extra £2.50 from HM Revenue & Customs. It might not sound a lot but every penny does count!
There is no extra expense or extra work for you. You do not need to state, in advance, what your offerings will be – we will simply claim a refund of tax on the amount you actually give. You can reduce or increase your offerings at any time to suit your changing circumstances. All offerings you make will remain discreet and you can receive a return from us of your annual givings. Loose cash offerings up to £20 also qualify for Gift Aid.
At present 44 members of Knockbreda Gift Aid their weekly offerings. This has provided us, in 2017, with an extra income of over £7,400. Church running costs increase year on year and this is absolutely vital to Church finances.
What do you need to do?
To donate through Gift Aid all you need to do is complete a form giving us your name, address and postcode and we do the rest. Just one declaration means that all offerings (which we can identify as yours) made over the past four years and any future offerings you make, will qualify for Gift Aid. It’s that simple.
Gift Aid forms are available by download or from John Nixon, who can provide you with more information. We will supply you with Church envelopes to enable you to make your weekly offering.
Download a Gift Aid form and return it to John.
Thank you very much to those who already Gift Aid.
